Apache Tears medium
‘Apache Tear’ Obsidian tumblestones - slightly polished.
These tumblestones are our 'standard stock' and we usually have many available. They all pass Sue's quality test, but since they are natural stones there will be some variation in appearance. You may not receive the item in the photograph.
Apache tears are natural, rounded pebbles of obsidian which are found in the United States, often Arizona. They appear black, but are translucent when held up to the light. They are often found in the grey mineral Perlite.
The name comes from a legend of the Apache people. In the 1870s the US Cavalry greatly outnumbered the Apache warriors in battle who rose their horses off a mountain rather than be killed. The tears of their wives and families were said to be turned to stone.
Apache tear obsidian is gently grounding and very protective.
