Pietersite was discovered in Namibia in 1962. It is mainly composed of a mix of Tiger’s Eye, Hawks’ Eye and, less frequently, Bull’s Eye.

It is a brecciated stone. The word breccia refers to any rock composed of broken fragments that have been melded together. It is similar in formation to Brecciated Jasper. In Pietersite, the pieces of Tiger’s Eye are melded together by Quartz. Small amounts of other minerals may also be present.

Whereas in Tiger’s Eye, there are bands of colour, in Pietersite there are swirls and other patterns and the gold, blue and red varieties can appear together in one stone.

Pietersite is a deep and powerful stone and is particularly useful in times of transformation and even chaos. Although when you first start working with Pietersite it may feel chaotic, it actually gathers chaotic energy and focusses it in order to assist the deep clearing that is necessary for spiritual growth and transformation. It also releases energy in a more focussed way, enabling effective action to be taken on the physical level.
