Septarian Nodules are beautiful and very interesting formations that look amazing when natural and polished. There are (at least) three different minerals and they form in stages.

The first stage is the creation of a mud ball, thought to be formed approximately 145,000,000 years ago in shallow lakes with tidal movement. Over time, these balls became buried beneath sediment, and as they dried out and cracked, Calcite from the shells of sea creatures seeped in and crystallised. The final layer that separates the outer clay from the crystalline centre is Aragoniteragonite; this gives the name Septarian, which comes from the Latin word "septum," meaning "partition. In this beautiful egg, the Calcite is black in colour.

Septarian Nodules are gently grounding, calming and nourishing. They can help us to have clear boundaries and to feel centred in ourselves while recognising that we are part of everything. They can assist us to be accepting of and tolerant of others while also being happy with our own company. They can bring a lovely sense of wellbeing.
