Diopside is a calcium magnesium silicate and one of the most common minerals of the pyroxene group of minerals that include Aegerine, Jadeite, Kunzite/Hiddentite and Hypersthene. Pyroxenes are found in many igneous and metamporphic rocks including basalt and gabbro and in and in small amounts in some granites and rhyolites.

There are several varieties of Diopside including a chromium-rich intense green gem variety called chrome diopside and a black variety, Star Diopside.

Green Diopside comes from Eastern Siberia and has been called ‘Russian Emerald’. It is also found in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Diopside is an excellent stone for physical healing and can work at deep levels e.g. post trauma, including surgery, as well as supporting all round healing, increasing energy and bringing balance.  It is a powerful heart healer and can help with heart disease at physical and emotional levels. It can support the circulation and help with both high and low blood pressure.

Diopside helps to heal the heart from emotional trauma too. It heals wounds from emotional hurts and can help to bring forgiveness and to rebuild trust.

It can help us to remember that we are part of the living being that is Mother Earth and to reconnect with Her and all her children on deep spiritual levels, thus taking our place in the growth and evolution of all.
